Being Nice

Something that I have realized is that it isn’t hard to be nice to other people. You have a choice of how you are going to treat others and it takes just as much energy to be mean to them as it does to be nice. People can just as easily post a kind comment or comment nothing at all. So I ask myself why? Why do people post things on other people’s social media? Why do people feel the need to comment their unsolicited negative opinion?

Last week I went on a hunting trip that some people dream about going on for most of their life. I was extremely blessed and excited, but once I finally posted pictures of the animals I was blessed to harvest, people were posting negative comments. Comments from my friends that I couldn’t understand why people were being so negative or felt that they had to post their opinion. Now, it did not upset me enough that the comments ruined my experience, but it did put a little damper on the event that was so special to me.

In the end I have thick skin and that didn’t impact me very much. (I just deleted the comments and moved on.) But I think that more people should think before they type. Remember that just because you can’t see the face of the person that is reading that comment, doesn’t mean that it is any less hurtful. Remind yourself that not everyone shares the same opinion you do and not everyone asks to hear yours, so just like all of our mothers have once told us think before you speak, and if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.

Okay rant over! 🙂 Merry Christmas everyone!
