It is no question that my boyfriend and I enjoy a good deer hunt, but we love even more is enjoying our kill. We have cooked it all from chili to burgers, so tonight we decided to try something new! Venison Pizza! It was amazing! We were able to pick up some cheese and pizza sauce from Whole Foods as well as the Pizza Crust. Then we headed over to Wal-Mart for some more items that we were okay not breaking the bank over. All in all, we both said that this was for sure a keeper, and we both enjoyed spending time in the kitchen together.

Here is the recipe that we came up with!

  • Pizza Blend Shredded Cheese (Whole Foods)
  • Whole Wheat Pizza Crust (Whole Foods)
  • Spicy Italian Chicken Sausage (Whole Foods)
  • Pizza Sauce – see picture for brand (Whole Foods)
  • Jalapenos (Wal-Mart)
  • Canned Mushrooms (Great Value)
  • Bacon (Wal-Mart)
  • Venison – seasoned with Italian seasonings

We cooked the venison, sausage, and bacon in the skillet together before putting on the pizza. Then cooked the mushrooms as well. We layered the pizza sauce – to our preference, and then added 75% of the bag of cheese. We spread all the toppings evenly, added the rest of the cheese to the top, then cooked it at 400F for 15 minutes. On the side, of course, we added ranch.

We have made lots of meals together and tried lots of recipes, but this has been one of my favorites! What is your favorite way to cook venison? Let me know in the comments below! We are always open to new recipes!
